When we use AI tutors we usually put students on the listening end, but flip the roles so the student is the one explaining and the depth of learning changes.
How reverse tutoring works
Here is how to set up a structure where the student teaches the AI.
- The AI plays the student who does not know: Have it act like a curious younger student who gets confused on purpose and keeps asking why.
- The student is the explainer: They have to unpack the concept in their own words. Where they stall, the gaps in their own understanding show.
